About us
Our
Mission
HF Resources redefines the concept of care and support by building on individual strengths of children, youth and families so that they may be successful in achieving their goals.
Our
Vision
For every youth and child to have a family and home
First Nations people, Metis and Inuit recognize children as their nations' most valuable resource. Thus, HF Resources will provide comprehensive experiences for First Nations, Metis and Inuit children from 0-18 years of age.
HF Resources provides services in regular group care with a strong emphasis on service for high risk youth and sibling groups: Placements for siblings in one home will ensure the family connectives and we have several houses designed to provide a home for siblings.
HF Resources believes in the importance of skilled and therapeutic intervention to stabilize behaviour; enhance the self-worth and dignity of each individual; and to promote healing of childhood neglect, abuse and trauma by using holistic values.
Our guiding principles is to involve a non-institutional holistic approach of joining family values, concrete treatment modalities with unconditional acceptance and guidance in family based setting.
HF Resources Inc. is an accredited agency through Canadian Accreditation Council. We are proud that CAC has recognized and observed our excellence in practise and service delivery, our quality of treatment planning and commitment to the client’s success. It was also pointed out by the CAC team that our agency conveyed a nurturing and healing home environment.
This is the bottom line of our vision and has resulted in our youth being with our agency for long term. They feel at home…not just having a place to stay.
HF Resources will:
1) support the spiritual, emotional, intellectual and physical growth of each Aboriginal child;
2) support and encourage each Aboriginal child to enjoy life-long learning;
3) include the broader Aboriginal community as part of the project throughout all of its stages, from planning to evaluation;
4) make sure the project works with and is supported by other community programs and services; and
5) make sure the resources are used in the best way possible in order to produce measurable and positive outcomes for Aboriginal children, their parents, families and communities
We believe...
1) That children are a gift from the Creator
2) That our children have a right to live proudly as Aboriginal people in the lands of their ancestors
3) That children have a right to learn their respective Aboriginal language(s) and histories, and adults have a responsibility to pass on the instructions that the Creator gave in the beginning of time as are reflected in our languages, cultural beliefs and cultural practices
4) That each child is part of what makes a community whole
5) That children, under the guidance of Elders, will learn to love learning throughout their life
6) That children acquire knowledge by watching, listening and doing, and adults are responsible for encouraging and guiding them in all those activities
7) That children, through being loved, valued and encouraged, will gain the courage, the strength and the wisdom to use the power of a good mind and spirit in all that they do
8) That children have a right to enjoy the opportunities that education offers
9) That children have a right to live in healthy, self-determining communities that are free of violence
